Eloko
In appearance, Eloko are short humanoids with pig-like snouts, averaging 4 feet in height. They tend to live in small families deep within the heart of forests where, when stationary, they are easily mistaken for small shrubs. When born, they are pink-skinned hairless creatures, but seeds from local flora soon take root in their large pores, then grow over their bodies like hair, giving them a bushy covering by childhood. Even while wearing armour or clothing, their verdure, seeking sunlight, will quickly grow through and around it, and with some minor self-landscaping, such garments will likewise become hidden.
Wild woodland folk, with a fiercely independent nature, the Eloko are renowned for their skill at magic. It is said that they are descended from forest spirits, and they use their natural camouflage and ability to weave potent magic to drive off unwanted intruders.
Thought of as tricksters by other peoples, they use their powers to keep their forest homes free of troublesome big folk.
